"We come with a project called the 'OM Champions Project'. This is a project which we are building together and based on four major points The first will be building a team that will compete each year to win Ligue 1," said the American businessman Frank McCourt, during a conference at the Hotel de Ville (City Hall) of Marseille (FRA), on 29/08/2016. Frank McCourt (63 years old), has entered "exclusive negotiations" for the acquisition of Olympique de Marseille (Ligue 1) with Margarita Louis-Dreyfus, the owner of the club, on 29/08/2016.

The same day, he participated in a press conference in Marseille, with Margarita Louis-Dreyfus and Jean-Claude Gaudin, the mayor of the city.

The American businessman, who owned the MLB franchise the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2004 to 2012, announced a "long term commitment" to OM, where he will invest from his family business, McCourt LP, of which he is the sole shareholder.
