Rangers (Scottish 4th division in 2012/13) are set to equip the Ibrox Stadium (capacity: 51,000) with WiFi for the 2013/14 season, supplied by the Chinese IT firm Huawei, the club announced on the 05/07/2013.

"More and more people are using smart devices (phones and computer tablets) as a primary means of communication and we look forward to revolutionising the way in which Rangers fans can engage with the club before, during and after the match," said Rangers' chief exec Craig Mather.

Rangers' Glaswegian rivals Celtic FC (Scottish champions in 2012/13) joined forces with US firm Cisco to offer WiFi at Celtic Park (capacity: 60,000) on the 26/06/2013.

  • Cost: more than €1m.
  • WiFi zones: all stands, restaurants, concourses, lounges and VIP areas of the stadium.
  • Time frame: gradual implementation from August 2013.
