Facebook: 73 million fans in total for the 20 clubs of the Serie A TIM (September 2016)

The 20 clubs in the 2016-17 Serie A TIM season have a cumulative 73 million fans on the social network Facebook, according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 01/09/2016. The Serie A is the third most popular of the European Top 5 leagues on Facebook, behind the Premier League and LaLiga Santander, and has an average of 13.65 million fans per club.

AC Milan are the most followed Italian club, with 24.83 million fans, an increase of 23,500 (+0.1%) since August 2016. But with only 0.1% growth, the Milanese club is the Serie A club whose percentage increase was the lowest from August to September 2016. The second most followed Italian club, Juventus (24.26 million, +139,200 fans between June and August 2016), are now less than 600,000 fans behind AC Milan, and could overtake the latter club before the end of the 2016-17 season, if the growth curves of the two clubs continue in the same pattern.
