Facebook: 42.2 million fans in total for the 20 clubs in Ligue 1 (September 2016)

The 20 clubs in the 2016-17 Ligue 1 season have a cumulative 42.2 million fans on the social network Facebook, according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 01/09/2016. Ligue 1 is the least popular European Top 5 league on Facebook, with an average of 2.11 million of fans per club.

Paris Saint-Germain are the most followed French club, with 25.52 million fans, up 70,200 fans (+0.3%) since August 2016. PSG alone represent 60.4% of the Facebook fans of Ligue 1 clubs, the highest proportion for a single club in a European Top 5 league.

Ligue 1 is the European Top 5 league with the least number of clubs (4) above the one million fans mark on Facebook: Paris Saint-Germain, Olympique de Marseille (2nd, 4.81 million fans), AS Monaco (3rd, 3.54 million), and Olympique Lyonnais (2.73 million) together account for 36,620,000 fans, or 86.7% of the Ligue 1 total.

With 5% of fan growth (from 295,000 to 309,750), OGC Nice are the Ligue 1 club which has had the highest growth in Facebook from August to September 2016, allowing it to become the 11th French club to pass the 300,000 fans mark.
