Facebook: a total of 65.5 million fans for the 18 Bundesliga clubs (September 2016)

The 18 clubs in the 2016-17 Bundesliga season have a cumulative 65.5 million fans on the social network Facebook, according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 01/09/2016. The Bundesliga is the fourth most popular of the European Top 5 leagues, behind the Premier League, LaLiga Santander, and the Serie A TIM, with an average of 3.64 million fans per club.

FC Bayern Munich are the most followed German club, with 38.65 million fans, up 233,900 (+0.6%) since August 2016. The Munich club has had the second highest growth in number of fans in August 2016 in the Top 5 leagues, and acquired more new fans than all of the other 17 Bundesliga clubs put together during the last month.

With only 1,000 new followers in September 2016 compared to August, 1.FSV Mainz 05 are the club in the European Top 5 leagues to have the least number of new Facebook fans during the period. 11 German clubs have acquired less than 5,000 new Facebook fans during the last month.
