Facebook: a total of 233 million fans in for the 20 Premier League clubs (September 2016)

The 20 clubs in the 2016-17 Premier League season have a cumulative 233.08 million fans on the social network Facebook, according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 01/09/2016. This total makes the Premier League the most popular European league on Facebook, with an average of 11.65 million fans per club.

Manchester United FC are Engalnd's most followed club, with 70.85 million fans, up 605,100 (+0.9%) since August 2016. 13 English clubs have more than one million fans on Facebook, a record amongst the Euroeapn Top 5 leagues.

With 33.9% growth (from 734,000 to 983,000), promoted Hull City AFC are the Premier League club that has registered the best increase in fans on Facebook between August and September 2016, and has seemed to have benefited in particular from its season opening match against Leicester City FC, the 2015-16 Premier League champion's (2-1, Matchday 1, the first time which the defending champions have been beaten on Matchday 1 of a season since the creation of the Premier League in 1992).
