Twitter: 10.88 million cumulative followers for the 20 clubs in Ligue 1 (September 2016)

The 20 clubs in the 2016-17 Ligue 1 season have a cumulative 10.88 million followers on the social network Twitter, according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 05/09/2016. Therefore, on Twitter, Ligue 1 is ranked fourth out of the European Top 5 leagues - behind LaLiga Santander, the Premier League, and the Serie A TIM - with an average of 544,000 followers per club.

Paris Saint-Germain are the most followed French club, with 3.79 million followers, an increase of 80,000 (+2.2%) since August 2016. The Parisian club boasts 34% of the total Twitter followers of Ligue 1. Olympique de Marseille (2^nd, 1.77 million), AS Monaco (3^rd, 1.07 million), and Olympique Lyonnais (4^th, 0.91 million) make up the next three most followed French clubs, and together with PSG these four account for 7.55 million followers, or 69% of the total Ligue 1 Twitter followership.
