India: Sony Pictures Television Networks India acquire the Ten Sports Network group (€345.6m)

Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) acquired the Indian pay-TV satellite group Ten Sports Network and its subsidiaries, which belonged to the media and entertainment group Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEE), on 31/08/2016. The Indian branch of Sony Pictures Entertainment, a subsidiary of the Japanese entertainment group Sony Entertainment Inc., paid $385m (€345.6m) for this acquisition.

Indian broadcaster Sony Pictures Networks India therefore adds the Ten Sports channels to its portfolio. Sony Pictures Networks (formerly Multi Screen Media) also concluded a "strategic long-term partnership" with the US broadcaster ESPN, on 08/10/2015.

"India has been a strong driver of Sony Pictures' growing networks business for two decades, and sports continue to play a significant role in that growth.
