Twitter: 8.46 million cumulative followers for the 18 Bundesliga clubs (September 2016)

The 18 clubs in the 2016-17 Bundesliga season have a cumulative 8.46 million followers on the social network Twitter, according to data compiled by News Tank Football, on 05/09/2016. The Bundesliga is the least popular of the European Top 5 Euopean leagues on Twitter, with an average of 470,000 fans per club.

FC Bayern Munich are the most followed German club, with 2,998,000 followers, an increase of 48,000 (+1.6%) since August 2016. The German champions should become the 11th European club to cross the 3 million follower mark in September 2016.

FC Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund (2nd, 2.29 million) have a cumulative followership of 5.29 million, which represents 62% of the total for all Bundesliga clubs. The two rivals are the only German clubs to have more than 500,000 followers.

The figures included only count the primary Twitter account of each club.
