Twitter: 13 million cumulative followers for the 20 clubs in Serie A TIM (September 2016)

The 20 clubs in the 2016-17 Serie A TIM season have a cumulative 13 million followers on the social network Twitter, according to data compiled by News Tank Football, on 05/09/2016. The Serie A TIM ranks third out the European Top 5 leagues - behind LaLiga Santander and the Premier League - with an average of 651,000 followers per club.

AC Milan are the most followed Italian club, with 3.82 million followers, up 110,000 (+3%) since August 2016. AC Milan and Juventus (2^nd, 3.34 million) have a cumulative followership of 7.16 million, or more between the two of them than the other 18 Serie A TIM clubs combined.

In total, only seven clubs in the Serie A have more than 250,000 followers on Twitter, ranking Italy behind the rest of the Top 5. Despite an increase of 14.6% in August 2016, FC Crotone (20^th, 8,653 followers) are the only European club in the Top 5 leagues to have less than 30,000 followers.

The figures included only count the primary Twitter account of each club.
