Cameroon: Fécafoot set to appeal FIFA's suspension

Fécafoot (Cameroonian football federation) is to appeal the suspension handed down on the 04/07/2013 by FIFA's (International Federation of Association Football) Emergency Committee to the CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport), Antoine Essomba Eyenga, one of the acting vice-presidents of the Cameroonian federation announced BBC Sport on the 05/07/2013.

FIFA has criticised the Cameroonian government for having been involved in the re-election of Fécafoot's president, Iya Mohammed, on the 20/06/2013, despite the fact that Mohammed was being detained by the Cameroonian authorities for alleged embezzlement. "Articles 13 and 17 of the FIFA Statutes oblige member associations to manage their affairs independently and with no influence from third parties," FIFA said on the 04/07/2013.

"This is a big surprise, and I see no government intervention in the election," said Antoine Essomba Eyenga, on the 05/07/2013.
