Eurosport: Ralph Rivera (ex-BBC) appointed managing director Eurosport Digital, as of 26/09/2016

Ralph Rivera was appointed the managing director of Eurosport Digital, to take affect from 26/09/2016, announced Discovery Communications, the parent company of the sports pay-TV group, on 06/09/2016. Based in London, Ralph Rivera takes charge of development of the Eurosport.com website and Eurosport Player, the OTT platform of the group which is active in 52 countries. He will be under the direction of Michael Lang, vice president of international and digital development for Discovery Communications.

Ralph Rivera previously held the position of director of digital operations for the British public broadcaster BBC since November 2010. He participated in the development of BBC iPlayer, a catchup TV service as well as the BBC catch-up radio service. "With hundreds of millions of mobile data subscribers and growing OTT momentum via connected TVs, Europe provides a significant strategic opportunity to leverage both Rivera’s successful track record of creating immersive digital video products and Discovery’s recent investments in premium sports content," stated Discovery on 06/09/2016.
