Italy: Umberto Gandini, executive director of AC Milan, leaves the club to join AS Roma

"After 23 years with AC Milan, Umberto Gandini leaves us. Dear Umberto, it is legit you have the desire to put yourself to the test in a new environment, but please know you leave here a great regret and a lot of affection: this is what, together with your unquestionable professional values, will always remain in everyone’s heart," announced AC Milan, in an official statement, on 07/09/2016.

The departure of Umberto Gandini is a consequence of the agreement for the sale of AC Milan by Silvio Berlusconi (via the Fininvest holding company) to the Chinese-led consortium China-Europe Sports Investment Management Changxing, on 11/08/2016.

The long-time executive director of AC Milan (Serie A TIM), Umberto Gandini is thus leaving the club which he joined in January 1993 as sporting director. He will, in the coming days, become the CEO of AS Roma (Serie A TIM): "I never thought that I'd join another Italian club, and then came this opportunity which makes me proud because they recognise my professionalism," said Umberto Gandini to the Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera, on…
