LaLiga Santander: RCD Espanyol become first Spanish club to open an academy in Algeria

RCD Espanyol (LaLiga Santander) became the first Spanish club to open a football academy in Algeria: Génération Foot Algeria (an Algerian branch of the African Génération Foot schools) and Espanyol signed an agreement for three seasons, until the end of the 2018-2019 season, announced the club on 04/09/2016.

"With this agreement, the club wants to continue in the direction taken several months ago with regards to international development and the expansion of its brand, as well as improving its expertise in the field of training. Espanyol consider Algeria a country with footballing potential and a unrivaled passion for the sport," said the Barcelona-based club.

The official name of the academy will be the "RCDE Academie Algerie". An official Facebook page, launched in French, says that every year, the top two academy players will go for a trial in Barcelona with the prospect of joining the Spanish club's academy.
