Liverpool FC: 51,232 spectators for the first match since the renovation of the Main Stand

51,232 spectators attended Liverpool FC - Leicester City FC (4-1), which was the first match since the inauguration of the newly renovated Main Stand which is now the largest in Anfield, on 10/09//2016. A work in in progress since early 2015, the Main Stand can now accommodate 21,000 spectators, against 12,500 previously, which represents an increased capacity of 68%.

The Main Stand will now bring the total capacity of Anfield from 45,500 to 54,000. Liverpool FC played their first three 2016-17 Premier League games away from home in order to allow for the completion of the Main Stand. The club can play all of their 2016-17 home matches in a completley finished stadium.

A ceremony was held on the eve of the match against Leicester for the official inauguration of the stand in the presence of Tom Werner, chairman of Liverpool FC, Ian Ayre, CEO of the Liverpudlian club, and Jürgen Klopp, manager of "the Reds", on 09/09/2016.
