England: Ben Wells appointed commercial director of Reading FC (second division)

Ben Wells has been appointed commercial director of Reading FC, the English club announced on the 05/07/2013. He succeeds Pat Coyne who held the position since 2006.

Ben Wells leaves his post as director of Ishtar Consulting, a sports sponsorship and marketing agency, but retains his seat on the board of the ESA (European Sponsorship Association). He was formerly head of marketing at Chelsea FC (3^rd in the Premier League in 2012/13), between November 2005 and September 2011.

"I am delighted to be joining Reading Football Club. I was struck immediately by the strategic vision of the Board and its commitment to taking a long-term approach to achieving its objectives," the new commercial director said on the 05/07/2013.

Reading FC were relegated after finishing 19^th in the Premier League in 2012/13. They will play in the Championship (second tier of English football) in 2013/14.
