UEFA: the new president, Aleksander Ceferin, promises "stability, hope, balance, and friendship"

"I want to lead UEFA into an era of stability, hope, balance and friendship. 'We can reach our common goals only by constant dialogue and working together," said Aleksander Ceferin (SLO), speaking before the 12^th extraordinary UEFA Congress, just before being elected president of the European confederation by 42 votes against 13 for Michael van Praag (NED), on 14/09/2016.

"It is a great honour, but it is at the same time a great responsibility. It means a lot to me, and to my family, who are very proud about this. My small but beautiful Slovenia is also very proud, and I hope that one day, you will also be proud of me," said Aleksander Ceferin after the voting.

"I am a team player - I am not a showman. I am ready to deliver the projects to take UEFA to a new level. I want the associations to take centre stage - let's develop the game together, and let's protect it together," added the lawyer, 48 years old, who has been the president of the Slovenia Football Federation since 2011, and wants a "new and clear vision, to open a new chapter in the history of this amazing organisation…
