CAS: full decision of "Michel Platini against FIFA" published on 16/09/2016

The Court of Arbitration for Sport has published its full decision of "Michel Platini against FIFA" (issued on 09/05/2016), a document of 65 pages (available to download, in French only, see the links below right), on 16/09/2016. The CAS reduced the sentence of the then UEFA president, who was succeeded by Aleksander Ceferin (SLO) on 14/09/2016, from six years to four years suspension from any position in football. The fine for Michel Platini was reduced from 80,000 to 60,000 Swiss francs (€70,200 to €52,700).

"We would have thanked you for informing us of the full decision in the quickest possible time-frame. Such a delay between announcing the decision and informing the parties of the reasons on which the decision was taken is not permittable. It is damaging to the interests of Mr. Platini, who must be aware of the reasons for his sentence," wrote Michel Platini's legal representatives to the CAS in a letter dated 29/08/2016.
