Bundesliga: Nike (6 clubs) dethrones adidas (4) as the most represented kit supplier in 2016-17

With six of the 18 clubs (33%) under contract (including VfL Wolfsburg, RB Leipzig, and SV Werder Bremen), the American sports equipment brand Nike is the most represented kit supplier in the Bundesliga for the 2016-17 season, ahead of the German brand adidas (four clubs). Nike returns the top spot it held over adidas in 2014-15 (six clubs for Nike to four for adidas), after the German brand had overtaken its American competitor in 2015-16 (five clubs for adidas to four for Nike).

After Nike and adidas, the German sports equipment supplier Jako and the Italian supplier Lotto each have two Bundesliga clubs under contract in 2015-16. Eight brands in total are represented in the Bundesliga in 2016-17 (an increase over 2015-16), including four German manufacturers: adidas, Puma, Jako, and Erima. Eight of 18 clubs (44%) are equipped by one of the four domestic brands.

Three kit supplier partnerships (17%) began in 2016-17:

• American brand Nike with VfL Wolfsburg
