Manchester United (Premier League champions in 2012-13) launched their official Twitter and Sina Weibo (the Chinese equivalent of Twitter), on the 10/07/2013.

After just 24 hours of existence, the club's Twitter account (@ ManUtd) listed more than 360,000 followers. Manchester United were the last Premier League club not to have an account on the social media platform. The United page is in English, but other language versions will follow, especially for Asian audiences. The account complements the club's pre-existing Twitter account, which was specifically used for financial and business services announcements (renamed @ MU_spokesperson).

United's Sina Weibo account will provide content in Mandarin. Up to now, the Mancunian club's digital strategy focused mainly on Facebook. The club has more than 34.6 million subscribers on the social network around the world.
