Stade de France: 30m visitors since the final of the 1998 World Cup

Stade de France celebrates the 15th anniversary of France winning the 1998 World Cup (3-0 to Brazil on the 12/07/1998) on the 12/07/2013. The Consortium Stade de France, operator of the stadium in Saint-Denis (Paris area), announced that more than 30 million people visited the stadium since its official opening on the 28/01/1998 (friendly match France - Spain, 1-0).

This number includes spectators and people visiting the stadium. The final of the 1998 World Cup holds the record audience in the history of French television, with more than 23.6m viewers (20.6 m on TF1 and 3m on Canal). The day after the victory, 1,645,907 copies of the newspaper L'Équipe were sold (record sales for the French sports daily newspaper founded in 1946). Stade de France will host the final of Euro 2016 on the 10/07/2016.

In 2010, the FFF (French Football Federation) has signed an agreement with the Consortium Stade de France until 2025. Under the agreement Consortium Stade de France will organize events (FFF matches, French team and Cup finals in France), at the Stade de France.
