Twitter: Top 100 European clubs with the most followers (October 2016)

With 35.93 million followers, FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander) are the most followed European club on Twitter, according to data compiled by News Tank Football, which features a Top 100 of the most popular European clubs on this social network, on 06/10/2016.

The data used by News Tank Football in the Top 100 include Twitter followers on a club's main account, but also the additional accounts in other languages. For example, Barcelona have fewer followers on its main Twitter account than Real Madrid, ranked second overall, but the Catalan club is ahead due to a greater number of followers on the additional accounts.

FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF (2^nd, 33.34 million followers) dominate the European Top 100 rankings on Twitter. Manchester United FC (3^rd, 9.6 million), Chelsea FC (4^th, 9.16 million), and Arsenal FC (5^th, 8.24 million) round out the Top 5.

Legia Warsaw (Polish 1^st division, +9.6%) recorded the highest growth of the European Top 100 clubs, ahead of 1. FC Köln (Bundesliga, +6%) and Middlesbrough FC (Premier League, +5.9%).
