Ligue 1: 11.03 million Twitter followers for the 20 clubs of the French league (October 2016)

The 20 clubs in the 2016-17 Ligue 1 season have a cumulative 11.03 million followers on the social network Twitter, according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 06/10/2016. Ligue 1 is ranked fourth among the Top 5 European leagues, behind LaLiga Santander, the Premier League, and the Serie A TIM, with an average of 551,615 Twitter followers per club.

Paris Saint-Germain are the most followed French club on Twitter, with 3.84 million followers, an increase of 57,100 (+1.5%) compared with September 2016. PSG alone compruse more than one third (34.8%) of the total Twitter followers of all the Ligue 1 clubs. Olympique de Marseille (2^nd, 1.78 million Twitter followers) and AS Monaco (3^rd, 1.08 million) round out the French podium. The 20 French clubs recorded the lowest average number of new Twitter followers of the Top 5 leagues in the last month (+7605).

FC Metz are the French club which posted the percentage growth (+4.5%) on Twitter from September to October 2016 (from 75,600 followers to 79,000).

The figures included only count the primary Twitter account of each club.
