Bundesliga: 8.66 million total Twitter followers for the 18 German clubs (October 2016)

The 18 clubs in the 2016-17 Bundesliga season have a cumulative 8.66 million followers on the social network Twitter, according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 06/10/2016. The Bundesliga is the least followed European Top league on Twitter, with an average of 481,611 followers per club.

FC Bayern Munich are the most followed German club, with 3,041,000 followers, an increase of 43,100 (+1.4%) compared with September 2016. The German champions are the 11th European club to have crossed the 3 million followers mark. Bayern Munich are ranked 11th in the European Top 100 Twitter, while the Bavarian club is 5th in the Facebook Top 100.

Borussia Dortmund (2nd, 2.33 million Twitter followers) and FC Schalke 04 (3rd, 445,000) complete the German podium for Twitter. RB Leipzig are the German which posted the best percentage growth Twitter, increasing their following by 6.5% from September to October 2016 (56,700 followers to 60,400).

The figures included only count the primary Twitter account of each club.
