DFL: Christian Seifert extends as CEO of German professional football for five years (2017-2022)

Christian Seifert, 47 years old, has renewed his contract as the CEO of the DFL for five years, until 30/06/2022, announced the German League on 10/10/2016. His previous contract was scheduled to end on 30/06/2017. Christian Seifert has been the CEO of the DFL since July 2015, and chairman of the German League's management board since July 2005.

Christian Seifert has been at the heart of the agreements for the domestic broadcasting rights to all German professional football competitions (Bundesliga, 2.Bundesliga, promotion and relegation play-offs, and the German Supercup), for which the DFL has now already obtained €4.64bn in revenue for the 2017-2021 cycle (average of €1.16bn per season), or 85% more than during the 2013-2017 cycle. This amount currently places Germany fourth among the countries of the European Top 5 leagues in audiovisual revenues generated, behind the United Kingdom, Spain, and Italy, but ahead of France.
