Javier Tebas was officially re-elected to the presidency of Laliga for a term of four years (2016-2020), announces the Spanish League on 10/11/2016. Only candidate to succeed him, he had already been proclaimed provisional president of the proceeding, the 05/10/2016.

Javier Tebas (54 years old), president of the Spanish League since April 2013 and whose term was scheduled to end in 2017, resigned on 21/09/2016, and immediately announced his intention to stand for a new term of four years at the head of the LaLiga.

To be officially stand for president of LaLiga, it was necessary to have the support of at least 11 of the 42 Spanish professional clubs before Wednesday, 05/10/2016, the candidate application deadline. Javier Tebas was the only candidate to reach the necessary support, and the only other person attempting to do so was Alex Aranzabal, the former president of SD Eibar, who had announced its intention to be a candidate.
