Premier League: Chelsea and the equipment manufacturer Nike formalise their partnership from 2017-18

The US sports equipment supplier Nike and Chelsea FC (Premier League) have formalise their partnership agreement, to from 2017-18, the two parties announced on 13/10/2016. The duration of this agreement - "which represents the largest commercial deal in the club's history" according Blues - was not specified.

As part of this "long-term" agreement, "Nike (will) become the official kit supplier beginning with the 2017-18 season. Nike will produce strips for the first team, Academy, and Ladies teams, as well as a full range of clothing for Chelsea's millions of supporters around the world," stated the American sports equipment manufacturer.

The British media outlet Telegraph Sport and its US counterpart Bloomberg had revealed the conclusion of an agreement between Chelsea FC and Nike for a period of 10 years (2017-2027), on 17/05/2016. The annual amount, excluding sporting performance bonuses, could amount to £60m per year (€76.9m on 18/05/2016), double the amount paid by adidas to the Blues from 2013-14 and until the end of the 2016-17 fiscal year.
