Nasser Al-Khelaifi (QAT), the president of Paris Saint-Germain (Ligue 1), has been appointed as representative of the ECA on the UEFA Professional Football Strategy Council, the ECA decided at its meeting in Zurich (SUI) on 10/10/2016. Nasser Al-Khelaifi also becomes a member of the ECA Executive Board for the remainder of the 2015-2017 period.

This appointment is the consequence of the departure of Umberto Gandini (ITA) from AC Milan to AS Roma in September 2016. Seeing as the Rome club is an associate member of ECA, the organisation's statutes prohibit the Italian leader from remaining on the UEFA Professional Football Strategy Council, and as a member of the Executive Board of the European Club Association.

French football now has two representatives on the ECA Executive Board: Jean-Michel Aulas, president of Olympique Lyonnais, and Nasser Al-Khelaifi, president of PSG. England and Spain are the only two countries to also have two representatives in this board of 15 members (see below).
