Media: Al Jazeera acquires Premier League TV rights in Middle East and North Africa from MP & Silva

Qatar-based network Al Jazeera Sport has bought the exclusive media rights to the Premier League in the Middle East and North Africa for three years starting from August 2013, the company announced on the 15/07/2013.

Al Jazeera reached an agreement with TV sports rights agency MP & Silva for access to all 380 Premier League matches across media platforms and devices in 23 countries in the region.

The sports network plans to bring its subscribers complete coverage of the Premier League including dedicated studios for both Arabic and English coverage.

Al Jazeera also announced it has secured exclusive rights from MP & Silva and Pitch International for Serie A and MLS (Major League Soccer) plus major cup competitions, including the FA Cup, along with Brazil's and England's international matches.

According to the Arabic press, Al Jazeera Sport, which has 19 live sports and sports news channels in the region, will launch three new HD channels to show all the Premier League matches. Al Jazeera Sport's subsidiary beIN Sport has recently launched, in partnership with MP & Silva, three channels…
