PSG: Leonardo leaves his post as sporting director on the 17/07/2013

"Today was Leonardo's last day," Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi told reporters at the press conference to unveil the club's new signing, the Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani, on the 16/07/2013. "The punishment was too hard for him. I'm disappointed but I respect his decision," Al-Khelaifi added.

When PSG announced Leonardo's resignation as sporting director, on the 10/07/2013, it was said that he would leave his post at the end of the summer transfer window on the 02/09/2013.

Leonardo was initially suspended for nine months by the LFP's (French Professional Football League) disciplinary committee on the 30/05/2013, for shoving referee Alexandre Castro following the PSG vs Valenciennes (1-1) match on the 05/05/2013. The suspension was increased by the FFF's (French Football Federation) appeals commission until the end of the 2013/14 season (30/06/2014) on the 04/07/2013.
