Intel Capital, a subsidiary dedicated to investment, mergers, and acquisitions, of the Intel conglomerate, the US company specialising in IT and technology, announced the launch of Intel Sports Group, its new sports division at the Intel Capital Global Summit in San Diego (USA), on 24/10/2016.

"A number of these investments were made under the auspices of Intel Capital’s new Sports and Health focus, which uses a broad, cross-disciplinary approach that spans multiple investing teams. The new concentration reflects recent comments by Intel CEO Brian Krzanich that 'digitization is the biggest change in sports in decades,'" stated Intel.

Intel Capital also announced an investment of over $38m (€34.8m on 26/10/2016) into 12 start-ups involved in innovative technologies, including data and virtual reality. Intel has invested particularly in the start-up company Kinduct, which designs applications to compile and analyse data to for sports organisations. Kinduct's clients include franchises of the five major US sports leagues (MLS, MLB, NBA, NHL, and NFL).
