France: Jean-Pierre Denis renounces the presidency of the LFP, but will remain on the League board

Jean-Pierre Denis, who was elected president of the LFP on 27/05/2016 to complete the term of Frédéric Thiriez (who resigned with immediate effect on 15/04/2016) does not wish to be reappointed during the elections scheduled for Friday, 11/11/2016.

Philippe Piat, the outgoing vice-president of the LFP, is one of the leaders to whom Jean-Pierre Denis has announced his decision, as Piat confirmed to News Tank Football on 27/10/2016: "His decision is not directly related to the General Assembly of the LFP which was canceled (lack of quorum) on 05/10/2016. But he realised that the role of president as defined in the new statutes of the League did not suit him. However, he wishes to remain on the board." And also regain his role of treasurer of the league, which was his from 2005 to 2016.

"I've never had the ambition to be president of the League. Neither before 15/04/2016 (the date of the resignation of Frédéric Thiriez ) or after, When I was asked about this interim presidency, I held a clear and consistent line. I did not want to be a candidate (in the next elections)," had said…
