EPFL: Frédéric Thiriez received by the European Commission in Brussels on the 16/07/2013

The fight against match-fixing, international transfers, sports betting and the status of football agents were some of the topics covered by Frédéric Thiriez, acting president of the EPFL (European Professional Football League), and Androulla Vassiliou, the European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism, Sport, Media and Youth, in Brussels on the 16/07/2013.

Frédéric Thiriez, who is also president of the LFP (French Professional Football League), spoke with the Commissioner about the role of sport, the recognition and legal protection of competitions and organisers' rights.

Vassiliou and Thiriez underlined "the positive results that have already been achieved through long-standing dialogue and cooperation between the two institutions." They also expressed their institutions' willingness to strengthen this fruitful relationship to better respond to the growing challenges facing professional football and Europe.

Frédéric Thiriez was elected interim president of the EPFL on the 15/05/2013.
