Twitter: closing of the Vine application and removal of 9% of company's global workforce

Twitter announced the closure of Vine, an application for 6-second, looped videos, in "the coming months", on 27/10/2016. The social network acquired Vine in October 2012, and the app was launched on 24/01/2013.

Twitter will also remove 9% of its global workforce (approximately 350 job positions) as part of its restructuring in the areas of sales, marketing, and partnerships, with the goal of reaching its profitability targets in 2017, the US company also announced on 27/10/2016.
