"If this happens again, we have to question whether we made the wrong decision awarding the hosting rights" said Sepp Blatter, president of FIFA (International Federation of Association Football), in Austria on the 18/07/2013

"It's not we who have to learn lessons from the protests in Brazil, politics in Brazil have to do that," said Blatter, referring to the protests (the largest in the country in 20 years) that took place in cities across Brazil during the Confederations Cup held from the 15/06 to the 30/06/2013.

The FIFA president has said he will discuss the issue in September with Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff.

The Brazilian Parliament wants to investigate the cost of hosting the 2014 World Cup, in particular the construction or renovation of stadiums. The politicians who started this initiative already have enough signatures to commission an enquiry in both chambers of Brazilian Congress.
