Premier League: Manchester City first club to launch its app for Fire TV from Amazon

Manchester City FC (Premier League) became the first British club to launch its application via Fire TV, a TV service connected to the American e-commerce company Amazon, on 24/10/2016. The application, which provides access to the content of the club's channel, CityTV, is available on the download platform of applications dedicated to the Fire TV.

"As consumers' viewing habits change and audiences migrate to over-the-top streaming services from companies like Amazon, we want to be there. Amazon Fire TV is a growing platform with huge potential and we’re extremely excited to bring CityTV content to it," stated Diego Gigliani, senior vice-president for media and innovation at City Football Group, on 31/10/2016.

Manchester City had recently launched innovations such as "Facebook Instant Articles" (snapshot items on Facebook) in October 2016, and a official club app for devices including the Apple brand. Manchester City also updated its application dedicated to virtual reality, "CityVR", (launched on 14/09/2015), on 30/09/2016.
