"Cornel Borbély, chairman of the investigatory chamber of the Ethics Committee, has recommended imposing on Rafael Callejas, former president of the Honduras Football Federation (2011-2015), a lifelong ban from taking part in any kind of football-related activity (administrative, sports or any other) for the alleged violations of the FIFA Code of Ethics," stated FIFA on 09/11/2016.

Alleged violation of articles 13 (general rules of conduct), 15 (loyalty), 18 (duty of disclosure, cooperation and reporting), 19 (conflicts of interest), and 21 (bribery and corruption) of the FIFA Code of Ethics are the objections raised in the final report of Cornel Borbély against Rafael Callejas who, 73 years old, was also president of Honduras from 27/01/1990 to 27/01/1994.

"The investigation concerning Rafael Callejas focused on allegedly illegal payments, which he received from sports marketing companies. In this context, Mr Callejas pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy and wire fraud conspiracy in front of the federal court in Brooklyn, New York (USA) on 28/03/2016," said FIFA on 09/11/2016.
