Saint-Etienne and its region gained €45.1m in economic benefits thanks to Euro 2016, said the Mayor of Saint-Etienne on 08/11/2016

"This amount, calculated by an independent research firm (Atexo), includes only primary expenditure and equivalents to 17.3 times the €2.6m expenditure incurred by our community," said Gaël Perdriau, the Mayor of Saint Etienne and chairman of Saint-Étienne Métropole, on 08/11/2016. Of the €45.1m in benefits, €8.2m (18.2%) comes from the money spent by the Euro 2016 SAS organising company.

The 185,000 visitors, "mostly men who came with friends and without children", spent an average of nearly €200 during their stay," according to Atexo.
