Poland: NC+ stops the broadcasting of the Premier League on Saturdays at 16:00 because of piracy

NC+, the Polish subsidiary of pay-TV group Canal+, will currently not broadcast Premier League games on its Canal+ Sport channel in Poland, on Saturdays at 16:00 CET - including the games on 05/11/2016, due to the risks of illegal streaming in the United Kingdom. This was the second consecutive weekend the Polish channel did not broadcast the Premier League games played in this time slot. NC+ acquired the Premier League broadcasting rights, in Poland, for the 2016-2019 period, on 04/12/2015.

"Recently in the UK there have been cases of illegal broadcasting of the English league matches in pubs and other public places using NC Plus decoders. As a result of these actions we do not have permission to transmit coverage on Canal Plus of matches being played on Saturdays at 16:00 CET. We regret that the wrongful act of a small number of people outside Poland led to an undeserved punishment for real football fans," said Canal+ Sport in a statement to the Polish media outlet Satkurier on 06/11/2016.
