FC Bayern Munich (Bundesliga) have launched an account on the social network Giphy, a platform specialising in gif (graphics interchange format - a digital image format), on 08/11/2016. The Giphy account allows the club to collect gifs featuring Bayern players on and off the field.

"GIFs are here to stay in the world of social media. With just a few seconds of video clips users can express their emotions, unrestricted by language barriers, according to the maxim: A picture is worth a thousand words," said the German club.

Fans of FC Bayern Munich can freely use the gifs posted by the club by downloading them and then using them online, sharing them on other social networks or sending them by email.

  • FC Bayern Munich is "one of the first clubs in the football world" to launch an account on Giphy.
    • AS Monaco became the first Ligue 1 club present on the platform in June 2016.
