"It is true that I have said I will not be presenting myself, but I will present myself! I will be the candidate on 18/03/2017. And not for two years, but for four years. I hesitated because even if I do not, I'm 75," said Noël Le Graët, president of the FFF, at the Stade de France (Saint-Denis) in 11/11/2017.

Noël Le Graët announced this candidature at the conclusion of a "federal meeting" of French football (the territorial reform nearing completion prohibited giving this meeting the label of "Federal Assembly" of French football) organised at the Stade de France, before the France - Sweden qualification match for the 2018 World Cup, on Friday, 11/11/2016.

"What matters is not the age, but competence. There are people of 40 years old who have no competence to be president of the French Federation," said Noël Le Graët.
