eSports: Olympique Lyonnais launch an eSports team "with provincial means" (Jean-Michel Aulas)

Olympique Lyonnais (Ligue 1) have launched an eSports team which will have "provincial means", said Jean-Michel Aulas, president of Olympique Lyonnais, on 08/11/2016. OL become the third French club to create its own eSport team, after Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco FC.

"We decided at our last direction meeting to invest in eSports, starting with the recruitment of one player. We will target football games, so obviously FIFA 2017. We will develop a presence, and look to see how it can fit into our brand strategy. We will go with provincial means. We'll take one player, two players... I was told that it was mainly the coach that was important. So we look for someone to coach players who can integrate into OL," said Jean-Michel Aulas, on 08/11/2016.

• Fans of the 20 Ligue 1 clubs will take part, from November 2016, in the e-Ligue 1, an eSports competition organised by the French Professional Football League, in partnership with the American video game developer EA Sports, announced the two parties, on 18/10/2016.
