Germany: Constantin Medien reorients on sport and creates new free channel, Sport2

"Constantin Medien AG initiated a strategic realignment to focus on of sports and marketing," announced the German media group, following its general meeting in Munich (Germany), on 11/11/2016. "In this context we want to separate ourselves from our film activities, make a significant rationalisation of the Group structure, and thereby improve the Constantin Medien AG financing structure," the group said.

Constantin Medien, owner of the free-TV channel Sport1 and pay-TV channels Sport1+ and Sport1 US, will launch a new free sports channel called Sport2.

“As we see it, positioning as a sports-only company is the long-term best and most promising strategy for the Constantin Medien Group, This gives us the opportunity to sustainably increase the profitability of our group,” said Fred Kogel, CEO of Constantin Medien AG, on 11/11/2016.
