LaLiga Santander: 48.19 million total Twitter followers for the 20 Spanish clubs (November 2016)

The 20 clubs in the 2016-17 LaLiga Santander championship have a cumulative 48.19 million followers on the social network Twitter, according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 02/11/2016. This result makes LaLiga Santander the most popular Top 5 League on Twitter, with an average of 2.4 million followers per club.

Real Madrid CF are the most followed Spanish club, with 21 million followers, up 268,000 (+1.3%) compared with October 2016. Real Madrid are the most followed club in Europe on its primary Twitter account. FC Barcelona (2nd, 18.84 million) and Atletico Madrid (3rd, 2.53 million) complete the podium. These three most followed clubs in Spain have a cumulative 42.37 million followers, or 87.91% of the total of all 20 LaLiga Santander clubs.

The promoted clubs CD Leganés (+16.9%) and Deportivo Alavés (+16.5%) recorded the highest percentage growth on Twitter (in percentages) of all the clubs in the Top 5 leagues in October 2016.
