Salaries: Cleveland Cavaliers (NBA) have the highest average salary (€7.53m) in the world in 2016

With an average salary of £6.54m (or €7.53m as of 14/11/2016) per player, the Cleveland Cavaliers (NBA) are the sports team whose average annual salary per player is the highest in the world, according to "Global Sports Salaries Survey 2016", a study by the British website Sporting Intelligence and published on 14/11/2016.

333 football clubs and sports franchises, from 17 professional leagues and 13 countries in the world, were included in the 2016 edition of the "Global Sports Salaries Survey", which lists the salaries of 9,776 sports entities operating in seven disciplines. Seven football leagues were studied: those of the European Top 5, as well as the CSL and the Scottish Premiership.

14 NBA franchises are among the Top 20 clubs or franchises whose average salary per player is the highest in the world. This strong presence of American basketball clubs is due to the recent explosion of the salary cap in the American league, particularly following the sharp increase in the amount of TV rights to the NBA.
