England: Manchester United's owners consider changing club badge

Manchester United (Premier League champions in 2012/13) are considering reintroducing the words "football club" in the club's name and visual identity, according to Manchester United's chief executive, Ed Woodward, on the 21/07/2013.

The words "football club" featured on Manchester United's badge from 1955 to 1998, when the badge was last changed.

"I didn't like that change of badge. Joel Glazer (joint-chairman of Man Utd) didn't like that change. We will look at that and have a think about that. We are a football club, not a business," Ed Woodward told the website Goal.com "I described it to our staff that we are a 135-year-old club and that's what you have to remember. We are a football club, a club with a capital C."

"The heritage is not just important it is central to what we are trying to do. As an example, we will not rename Old Trafford, the name is part of the fabric of the club. It means something to our fans," the chief executive added. Old Trafford is nicknamed the 'Theatre of Dreams".
