The governments of Germany and China have reached agreements for a wide-ranging partnership for activities in football, according to News Tank Football sources in Germany on 25/11/2016. This partnership has an initial plan of five years, and the agreements were signed at the German chancellory in Berlin, in the presence of the Vice-Premier of the People's Republic of China, Liu Yandong.

In total, three treaties have been signed between the two countries:
• A comprehensive agreement at the government level
• An agreement between the DFB and the Chinese Ministry of Education and the CFA
• An agreement between the DFL and the Chinese Ministry of Education and the CFA

The goals of this partnership are to achieve an ongoing mutual exchange of ideas and experience between the institutions involved. Including, for example, through the training for players, coaches, and referees and the sharing of know-how between the different league organisations. German football, on the other hand, will gain better access to the corresponding broadcasters in China.
