FIFA: draw for the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia in Kazan (RUS), on Saturday, 26/11/2016

Zvonimir Boban (CRO), deputy secretary general of FIFA in charge of football, will lead the process for the draw of the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia 2017 (from 17/06 to 02/07/2017), at the Tennis Academy Kazan (RUS) on Saturday, 26/11/2016.

The procedure for the draw was approved by the organizing committee of the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, in Kazan, on 24/11/2017. The teams are divided into two pots, A and B, with eight participating national teams.

Russia, the host country (team A1), and the three top-ranked teams in the FIFA rankings (as of 24/1//2016) - Germany, Chile, and Portugal - have been placed in Pot 1, and the other four teams - Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and the African representative, the winner of the AFCON 2017 in February 2017 - are in the Pot 2. Each group will include two teams from Pot 1 and two from Pot 2.

• The Russians Sergei Semak, 5-time champion of Russian football, and Yelena Isinbayeva, 2-time Olympic champion in the pole vault, will participate in the draw for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup.
