Africa: StarTimes (CHN) acquires TV rights to the Ghana Premier League for 10 years

The Chinese pay-TV StarTimes Group acquired, via the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the media rights to the Ghana Premier League, valid for sub-Saharan Africa, on 23/11/2016. The amount of the agreement is $17.95m (€16.9m) for a period of 10 years, until 2026.

The agreement includes all media rights to the Ghana's Premier League, the "Gala" competition, National Division One League (Ghanaian 2nd division), the MTN FA Cup, the Ghana Women's League, and the Ghana Juvenile League. StarTimes, the successor to the South African group SuperSport (2013-2016), will also provide 10 synthetic pitches and an OB van to the GFA over the next ten years.
