FIFPro: 2016 Global Employment Report

The 2016 Global Employment Report from FIFPro is "the first globally conducted survey on the working conditions of professional footballers," said the French football players' union the UNFP, which published this report on 29/11/2016.

"Conducted independently by the University of Manchester (UK), the survey is based on earnings of nearly 14,000 players from 54 countries and 84 leagues in Europe, the Americas, and Africa. It is probably the largest survey ever conducted in the world of professional athletes by using the direct involvement of data," added the UNFP.

The average net monthly salary in the world is between €943 and €1,886. "41% of players in the world said they had not received their wages on time at least once in the last two seasons, with the most common delays ranging from one to three months," said the French UNFP.
